When the women want to represent their issues related to protection of the local
resources, there needs to have documentary support that depicts the seriousness of
the issue so that the government will be convinced to take up serous rectification
through policy changes.


GUIDE every often helps the women and children collect the needed information
about the status of the environment and commons of their village through
participatory data enumeration. The women volunteers are trained to run such
sessions and to enumerate the outcome in the prescribed forms. Such data is
collated and turned into tables and report so that it can be presented to the
government. About 36,000 women were involved in this process.


GUIDE has helped the women leaders who are members of the Tamil Nadu Women’s
Movement to hold meetings with the concerned department heads to pressurize to
take cognizance of the findings and policy changes. Hundreds of women leaders
from all over Tamil Nadu have participated in such sessions over the years.
