The women volunteers are taught fundamental freedom including freedom of
speech and gathering and are helped to look into the constitution and the related
legal instruments to find in ensuring human dignity.

Over 40,000 women are able to assert their rights in the project areas of GUIDE and
are able to seek judicial intervention where their life, livelihood and dignity are at
stake.

These women’s associations formed by GUIDE are able to hold peace talks when
communal tension happens and also in cases where women suffer domestic and
local violence so that peace and justice are restored without going to the police and
courts.

Beijing Process: Ever since 1995 GUIDE has contributed to the Beijing process. We
were instrumental in demanding that 50% of the state assemblies and parliament be
reserved for women. We have only succeeded at panchayat level.
GUIDE is seriously involved in the Beijing +30 process, to make the voice of the
voiceless women be heard.
