Non-formal and value-oriented education:
At 1985, GUIDE’s entry point was supplementary education for children through
trained local volunteers in 50 villages of the Kancheepuram district where most of
the children were engaged in crazing goats due to poverty in their families Through
our evening education children were encouraged to go to school which resulted in all
the Dalit children going beyond local schools for the first time and also in creating
first-generation graduates.
A little over 50,000 Dalit and Adivasi children have been helped by GUIDE through
supplementary and non-formal education where value orientation was provided,
which is not part of any pedagogy.
